The art market is highly competitive place and as such makes purchasing artwork an art of its own.
There are many talented artists working today who produce artwork of a very high standard and desirability. That which makes one artist’s work more desirable than the next, is solely based upon the collector's personal appreciation of the artists work and their motivation for acquiring the artists work.
There does seem to be a trend however, whereby an artist’s work is more desirable dependant on who purchases the work. This phenomenon to many artists is a frustrating one, as it directly affects their own self worth and credibility as an artist. It is perhaps for this reason that many artists are content to remain amateurs in aspiration of their artistic ability.
Why should I buy the artwork from sosgallery.org?
A great deal of time and effort goes into the creation of an original piece of artwork, and while artist’s strives to make a living from their work, are faced with the dilemma of how to price their work.
The artist does not want to over price their work, as few people will be in a position to invest their hard earned money on highly priced artwork.
So how does the artist decide how much to sell their artwork for?
Q. What does the artist invest in each painting?
A. Education, time and materials.
Education: Most artists will have invested thousands of pounds to attain a recognised qualification in pusuit of their artistic career.
Materials: Stretcher bars, canvas, primer, paint, tools and brushes.
Time: Preliminary sketches, draught sketches, final drawing, studies, and the actual painting.
